Delegation: Is it Time?
Let's start with an image: imagine that your business is a boat. When you started, it was probably like a canoe. But now your business has grown. It's more of a large-scale fishing operation. My clients typically know they need to delegate long before they actually take the plunge. But the longer you wait to delegate (and train your team to take on more responsibility), the harder the handoff of power will be.
Here are some strategies for implementing delegation when you see that it's time.
• Choose what to delegate. The goal of delegation is to free up your time for what you do best--and what nobody else can replicate. Choose which tasks to delegate based on considerations of cost (how much money it will cost to hire someone for a task,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how much time it will take to train that person) and benefit (how much time will you save by not doing that task). Remember that some tasks can be delegated to automated systems,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], too.

The investigation into the use of funds by the Agency for National Security Planning in the 1996 General Election seems unable to get beyond the quarreling over whether the whole investigation is being targeted at the opposition party. The current government calls the whole affair a clear affront to state order,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the suspicions about the nature of the investigation continue to surface. The reason this whole case is getting nowhere closer to the truth is, more than any other factor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because the ruling circle doesn't want to handle the case according to recognized principles.
This is why after ten days the investigation is still no closer to the true identity of the person ultimately responsible for the decision to use the money,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nor for that matter where the last W100 billion ended up going either,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in what has been by all means a pathetic investigation. Now even the NSPA list leaked to the press last week is subject to debate as to its authenticity, and the whole situation is spiraling in uncontrollable confusion. Grand National Party (GNP) staffers have been arrested to pressure Assemblyman Kang Sam-jae, and United Liberal Democrats (ULD) Assemblyman Kim Jong-ho has also been found to have been a recipient of these monies that have shaken the nation.
When the list was first exposed in the press on January 8,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there were no less than 180 names there along with the amounts they supposedly received. The whole idea that a list like this could be leaked is itself cause for suspicious speculation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but many were immediately suspicious when Kim Jong-ho and Prime Minister Lee Han-dong, now both with the ULD,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], along with non-mainline members of the GNP were all interestingly absent from it. What so many were and are suspicious of is that the government included the names it wanted and left out others it didn't want on the list,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then leaked it by intention.
Now it is discovered that the Kim Jong-ho also benefited as a recipient of NSPA money. The situation is now almost humorous since along with the ruling Millennium Democratic Party (MDP),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kim Jong-ho's ULD has now officially stated its position that the case was a criminal act of diversion of funds from the National Treasury. Now the ULD has quieted down for the moment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while the MDP is declaring the discovery that Kim Jong-ho also received funds is proof the investigation is being carried out fairly. The true nature of this whole case can be seen in how the ruling party,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as if the spokesmen for the prosecution, feels it needs to do public relations for the investigation. Expect more commotion in the near future, as authorities plan to call in others it finds suspect. Until this issue is handled as a case, there will be no lessening of the suspicions.

Steven is currently an active member of AA and Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA). He’s also in longterm therapy dealing with the fact that he’s nearing fifty and has never sustained a relationship with a woman for longer than a year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and never one that included his being monogamous. “It’s all the same addiction,” he says. “The drinking,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the pot,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the sex--it’s all about not being able to really connect with anybody.”
Steven is remembering the active days of what he calls his sex addiction: “I was at a party and noticed this overweight,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not so beautiful woman across the room who was obviously attracted to me.” He drums his fingers on the table. “I did my number on her and got her to go out to the barn behind the house where we had sex, then we went back inside to the party. Later, I remember I glanced over at her and she was crying.” He breaks eye contact and looks away. “It was sad because I knew I had hurt her, injured her self confidence, but who she was as a person had nothing to do with it. She was just next.”
The point is that a person’s sexual activity may or may not coexist with psychological problems. Many times people who prefer sexual behaviors outside the mainstream are completely psychologically healthy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and certainly not “sex addicted.” However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], counselors of all types are seeing increasing numbers of clients with problematic sexual habits that are causing a great deal of pain. It is estimated by Dr. Patrick Carnes that 3-6% of the population meets the criteria for sex addiction.

One of the ways to tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy sexual activity is the degree to which a person feels out of control of their behavior, or that it hurts themself or other people. If something feels this way to you, find the help of a counselor or program who will not judge you and help you to continue on your journey toward greater sexual health.
Whether or not such a thing as “sex addiction” exists is controversial. In “Why There is No Such Thing as Sex Addiction - and Why it Really Matters,” Dr. Marty Klein argues that by using such a phrase, we are at risk for pathologizing sexual behavior that is outside the mainstream. This is an important consideration, because society has a way of making people wrong who are sexually active and alive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people we might call “sex positive.” The mainstream often makes people wrong who have a lot of partners or people who engage in alternative lifestyles such as polyamory, whether they have psychological problems or not. 8. Don’t rub it in! Of course you must show love and affection to the baby in the presence of your older children. But please, at the same time, be sensitive to your other kids. If you have a toddler son and bring home another boy, it cannot be good to tell the newborn, “you’re mommy’s little baby now”, or something similar. Be careful that you don’t say things to the newborn that was always reserved for your other kids. Love on the baby. Give the baby lots of kisses and hugs but be balanced in your affection you show your other kids.
4. Involve your present children in taking care of the baby. One thing that has worked very well for us, and in the lives of other families, is to include both of our older boys in caring for the baby. Our toddler cannot get enough of touching her hair gently, carrying diapers to the trash can,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or getting her blanket when she needs it. Even our older boy changed his first diaper the other day which was so miraculous we thought the heavens would open and we would hear the “Hallelujah Chorus”. Now, we must monitor this involvement from the boys as they do not know the nuances of taking care of a newborn but this involvement has gone a long way in their acceptance of their baby sister.

3. Make sure you and your spouse work as a team. Again, this does not happen by accident. You and your spouse must share time with each child in the house. Both parents must show that each child is important. Very early on, mom usually spends a little more time with the newborn but dad can still take over enough that mom can spend quality time with her other kids. This is very important both for the newborn (to bond with dad) and the other kids (in not feeling left out by mom).
And then it hit me. Fears began to swarm around me like a host of bees, stinging me with insecurities and doubts. What if I was unable to love the next baby like I had been able to love our other kids? What if I DID love the baby so much that our other kids felt abandoned? What if all the security I had built up in the life of my toddler crumbled under the pressure of sharing daddy with this new family member? What if I couldn’t sustain the level of love and affection as our family grew larger? What if my heart wasn’t big enough for any more kids?????
Over these past months, I have done my best to prepare for this new dynamic. I have read books on the topic. I have interviewed other parents who have already blazed that trail in their own families. I have shared that fear with other men who were preparing for the same changes. And I have searched my heart for answers. The following suggestions are compiled from all of these sources and more. For those of you who are approaching the birth of a new baby and have fears about the adjustment that new baby may bring, these tips are for you. I hope they are as helpful to you as they have been for me.
Well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it took me longer than I expected but those prayers were finally answered in the affirmative. In the last four years, I gained a stepson (who is now eleven), another son (now three),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and only a week ago, we brought home a little girl as a new addition to our home. I am tickled pink! I often tell people that being a parent is the hardest and greatest job in the world. However, as the day approached that this new baby girl was going to enter the world, I experienced a new emotion in regards to children; fear.

Try to watch saying the same pet phrases. Make it your goal to have a new nickname for each child. Learn a couple of new songs to sing to this new baby. It doesn’t mean you can never overlap but try to individualize your affection for each child
When my wife discovered she was pregnant with another child, I was ecstatic. After all,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I was the one whose ideas of family were very reminiscent of the Osmond family choir. My wife believes I secretly had designs on having enough children that I could start my own baseball team. Seriously, the thought of a new baby was very exciting.

The first day we brought our daughter home, we were somewhat apprehensive on how she would be accepted, especially by our toddler. Because he didn’t feel smothered or pressured to accept her, it made him far more willing to do so. If anything, we now have to curtail his urges to be around her too much. I mean, BABIES HAVE TO SLEEP YOU KNOW! So, I know you want your children to accept the baby but here is some advice: Don’t force it, encourage it.
6. Use healthy touch with all of your children. Healthy, appropriate touch is needed by the newborn as well as all of your children, no matter how old they are. Even teens need a high-five or a pat on the back,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as well as hugs. Of course, the younger the child, the more they need physical affection. Make sure you give lots of it to everyone.
10. Don’t freak out! Remember, none of us are perfect. Our kids are not perfect. No family makes a perfect transition with a newborn. If things don’t go as smoothly as you hope,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], don’t overreact. Just know that your heart is big enough to love all your children. Give yourself and your family time to work through the bugs. You can do it and hopefully these tips can help.
It’s true. I started to really get scared of the repercussions of bringing home another infant. I think my fears revolved around the strong bond I have with my sons, who were already in the home. I have worked hard over these past years at developing a loving, secure bond with the two boys in the home. I love both of them greatly and those relationships were going well, especially with the toddler. I have always been very close to my son. 1. Deepen your bond with your kids BEFORE the new baby arrives. If you are still in the preparation stage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], take time now to spend extra time with the children who are already in your home. If you have a strong relationship with them before the newborn arrives, it will give them a stronger foundation to handle the change.
I must confess that I absolutely adore children. No lie. Ever since I was a child myself, I have enjoyed holding little babies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], playing with toddlers, and interacting with elementary age kids. Heck,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I even love spending large amounts of time with teenagers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which most people believe qualifies me for an institution (and not an institution of higher learning, either). When I was as young as 8 or 10 years old, I was volunteering to work in our church nursery. At age 15, I was willing to wash hundreds of dishes just so I could go to as many weeks of camp in the summer as I could. As a teenager, I was working as a member of faculty for weeks of camp where I could work with kids. At around that same age, I began to pray to God that He would allow me to have a family of my own someday. I know it seems unusual but, here I was, fourteen or fifteen years old and already hoping to have my own kids.
7. Always greet your older children first. This was a tip that a friend of mine gave me that he said has worked in his home. He said that, if he is leaving for work or coming home from work, that he always approaches his older child first. To approach the baby first can make the older child feel as if he has lost his position in the home. This idea is subtle,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not difficult, but I thought made a lot of sense. The baby doesn’t know better but your older child will.
2. Be intentional in your time. After the new baby comes, time will become even more of an issue than it already is. Very rarely will you find that you just have some “free time” to spend with your older children. You will have to deliberately carve out time for your kids. You must do this, or jealousy will be more likely to rear its ugly head. Be creative in taking time for your kids. Even a nighttime walk to the park and back with just your older children will go a long way with reminding them they are still special to you.

I believe that love is becoming a synonym for infatuation. After a couple of meetings, both boy and girl declare that they are in love. Then, sooner or later, both of them are in "love" with somebody else! This cycle is just unending. The problem lies in labeling physical attraction as love. If love is a flower,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then infatuation is a plastic flower. Both look like same but only the real flower can bestow its beauty on you. You can possess and keep the plastic rose for years. You can keep it to satisfy your mind but you can't satisfy your heart with it.
Something worth mentioning is possessiveness. Partners try to posses each other always. They need to understand that love is not a commodity that one can possess. We think that if we don't possess each other,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that means we don't love each other. By possessing our partner, we prove our love! I suggest you to let your love fly like a bird. Put 100 percent trust in it. If it's yours it will be with you always. If it's not,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then let it go. Let it beautify some other person's life. Somebody else will beautify your life. Never forget that if you try to possess your love, then you are insulting your love. I personally believe that love is a gift that we should enjoy to the fullest. But whenever I look around, I don't see anybody enjoying it.
Last but not the least is jealousy, which I believe is the most harmful thing in any relationship. I have personally seen many beautiful and long relationships destroyed because of it. Jealousy arises when a partner can't bear to see the other partner with some other person of the opposite sex. I believe love is all about making the other person happy. Do you think he will be able to be happy with you if you take him away from others? Absolutely not. Nobody likes to be enslaved. Let your partner be happy with others. Even if it is 10 minutes, we can spend those minutes by caring and loving each other. But most of us spend those 10 minutes fighting and arguing over the fact that why the other partner has just 10 minutes to spend.

Every day there is an argument over the same thing, and very soon the relationship ends because of such senseless demands. Some people say that whenever they are with their partners, they talk about their job or themselves all the time. Maybe the job and family is where they find excitement. Just enjoy that moment.
